Mixed Friday, but positive week

A dramatic week marked by U.S. tariff threats and earnings on both sides of the border ended on a mixed note Friday as the S&P closed flat, the Nasdaq added -0.41%, the Dow sank 0.37% and the TSX shed 0.84%. However, the picture was more positive over the week where the S&P gained 1.5%, the Nasdaq 2.6%, the Dow 0.55% and the TSX 0.16%.
As mentioned, earnings were a major theme, and a positive report from Airbnb pushed its shares 14.45% higher as well as for Wynne Resorts which jumped 10.38%. Elsewhere, Super Micro Computer rallied 13.32%, Intel sank 2.2% and Go Daddy fell 14.28%. The U.S. 10-year ended a choppy week down to 4.472% while Bitcoin edged up 0.55% to US$97,000.
On Bay Street, CAE soared 13.84% after reporting earnings and shaking up its board. Elsewhere, NFI Group closed 13.84%, Enbridge -5.48%, Air Canada -2.58% and MTY Food Group -11.85%. Eight of 11 sectors lost ground on Friday, led by materials and discretionary, while financials offered some gains. Gold gave back US$44 to US$2,883 after touching highs the past week, while WTI slipped 0.8% to US$70.70.
