Mining. There's a lot more smart money into the sector. It's a good time to look at these stocks. He's positive about minerals. His method of evaluating a company hasn't changed from five years ago. He's still looking for the highest-quality deposit. He wants to be involved in a discovery early on to attract a buy-out from a major. Exploration hasn't been that successful in the past 10 years, but the industry still needs new discoveries. Now, the juniors are willing to do this exploration, moving to a place and doing work through locals, whereas a major that moves to, say, Mongolia is a big deal.
Gary Cohn quits White House. Another one bites the dust. Trump is an imbecile. As the Mueller investigation goes on and ties between Trump and Russia are exposed, we're looking at potential impeachment a year from now, which will be negative to the U.S. dollar, which by default is positive in the gold price.
He visited their prospect in Finland last fall. Excellent managers and geologists. Drilling has been more difficult than expected. They have $15-20 million still going, and joint ventures with Kinross. He's now waiting to see if they've found something substantial.
It's really hard to find a silver deposit, so that's probably why they moved away from silver operations.
Has known this for a long time. Based in Idaho. A high-grade deposit in a difficult location with environmental issues on the ground that they can solve. (Salmon can't get past the pit.) It's a good deposit. The best undeveloped gold deposit in the U.S.
He knows it well and their president. Their recent project hit 220 meters almost 0.5% copper in Brazil. He sees the potential for a lot of ton, so now it comes to grade. He's looking for 200 million+ tons of 0.5% or better. Their
game plan is to bring in a partner after discovering a few more holes.
He doesn't invest in building small mines like Redstar. They continue raising money to build it, so market share is increasing, but your market share price is flat or declines. He wants something that's good enough that a major will buy it out.
Effect of Trump tweets on gold companies. The volatility of his tweets, like the steel tariffs, has a direct impact on the economy, trade deficit and the gold companies.
He bought this Dec. 2015 at cash value at the right time. Sold it around $5. Fantastic deposit now going into development, but not buying now.
So far he hasn't seen anything to make him buy the stock.
The spin-out will be raising some money with two royalties. Successful team of good geologists and explorers. With AMZ you get the $19 million that Newcrest is investing. A great deal.
Impressed with how they've bought projects and kept them in production. Will spend $90 million on projects this year, $60 with partners. That's the way to run a business. This will grow into a company that someone larger will buy to get into the North American market.
(A Top Pick March 6/17, Up 29%) It's his personal biggest holding. This or next year will see their biggest discovery. They have fantastic projects in Argentina and Chile.
(A Top Pick March 6/17, Up 37%) They have a massive hydrothermal system, the right thing that a major should come into. Just recently, Newcrest are putting $19 million into a spin-out company to explore this while Almadex spins out mineral exploration and royalty assets. Looks good.
