COMMENT
How are you positioning portfolios? US election has captured investors' attention. Beyond the near term, no election result will be a primary driver of markets. Waiting for US fiscal stimulus, and that will drive markets. No matter what, fiscal and monetary policies will be accommodative to the economy for quite some time.

COMMENT
Any risk that investors will bail on dividend rich stocks? Leaders have been tech, consumer discretionary, and communications. Energy, financial, and real estate have been the laggards. Dividend and value are underperforming. Growth is #1, momentum is #2, and quality is #3. He's looking at the growthier part of the market. Covid has accelerated gains of pandemic beneficiary-type stocks.

COMMENT
Upside in work from home stocks? He'd put more emphasis on dividend growers, than just the highest dividend. Areas to focus on are e-commerce, health sciences, cloud computing, changes in how we shop, stay at home.

DON'T BUY
Tesla Inc
Successful stock, a momentum stock. Uncertain where it will be in 2 years. High expectations. Extended valuations. 150x forward PE ratio. He's nervous about owning. If you own it, put a stop loss on. Could face severe volatility and competition.
Consumer Products
DON'T BUY
A T & T US

Telco sector has lagged from the March lows. More of a value and dividend play. Yield now is 7.8%, and is that sustainable? He owns Verizon.

Telecommunications
HOLD
Zoetis Inc
He took profits to switch into biotech. Revenue streams will grow at high single digits. Chart looks good. One of his favourite names in the space.
Consumer Products
WAIT
Has recovered a bit. But are we really going to be going to concerts and games next year? Once we see a vaccine, this stock has some value. Monopoly, a great company. Uncertainty keeps him away.
entertainment services
HOLD
Coca-Cola Company
Consumer staples have lagged. Global, iconic brand. Expanded into coffee market to diversify and expand growth prospects. Disproportionately exposed to soda category, which is facing headwinds. Own it for income, but not growth. Yield is 3.3%.
food processing
BUY
Manulife Financial

He owns Sun Life and Great West Life instead. Insurers have suffered. Growthier companies are getting the attention, especially in a low interest rate environment. Good value over time, but that's not in favour right now. Has recovered from the March lows. Nothing against it.

insurance
BUY
Block Inc
Fintech continues to be attractive. Pay a premium, at 206x forward earnings, but a very strong growth rate. 20% growth longer term, and earnings are starting to accelerate. Looks attractive.
Technology
BUY

Include Square, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard. Secular move from cash to electronic payment. Makes sense to own. Only detraction would be a complete global slowdown on spending, but we're not seeing that.

Financial Services
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 24/19, Up 4%) Has underperformed as of late, because of the tech push, but longer term it's had lower volatility. Makes sense for those investors who want less octane in the portfolio, but returns that follow the S&P.

PAST TOP PICK
Merck & Company
(A Top Pick Oct 24/19, Down 2%) Healthcare is a resilient sector, not cyclical. Strong in oncology space. Pandemic has crimped pharma sales, especially from hospitals. Shares are cheap, 9% earnings growth rate, dividend over 3%.
biotechnology / pharmaceutical
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 24/19, Down 15%) Sold out a week ago. Industry under immense pressure. Tim's and Burger King are struggling. Earnings growth remains uncertain. He'd look at it once there's a vaccine.
food services
BUY
Air Canada
Need to be patient over next year or so. Lots of cash on hand, so they'll survive. Highly cyclical. Starting to inch its way up. Once we start to see normalcy in travel, could do very well. Small position only in this, and depends on your risk tolerance and time horizon.
