He regrets selling it 18 months ago. It's done amazingly well. He loves their hardware and they are switching to a services side, but he finds Apple products not easy to use. With the current pullback, yes, he might buy it. They're criticized for not makin acquisitions, but in fact they have been buying smaller companies. He doesn't understand why they never bought Netflix or Spotify--glaring errors--when they have so much cash. The Apple Watch is better than many think.

There's more interest in Crypto and Bitcoin than gold as a safe haven. The former was way oversold. He owns a bit of Franco Nevada. At some point there will be a shift back to gold, though he doesn't know when. It's been a slog for gold bugs, but things should change.

(A Top Pick Jul 11/18, Up 28%) It has one of the best balance sheets and operating metrics he's ever seen. They're ready to do more M&A. They own asset-lite, cash-flow businesses--23 different medium-size businesses.

(A Top Pick Jul 11/18, Up 16%) It's loaded with debt and has invested in risky things, like WeWork and Uber. That Uber IPO this week didn't bode well for SoftBank. They recently launched a $5.5 billion share buyback. This stock is down because of Uber weakness. (There is IPO fatigue, and not Uber's fault.)

(A Top Pick Jul 11/18, Down 11%) The cosmetics sector got hit and COTY made some missteps. They remain the perfume leader globally and second in hair. Still a very good company that is getting back on its feet. But he'd be nervous entering it here.

They're trying to break into the US market: 25% of earnings there is the target. They aren't buying back shares to the same degree at its peers. It's trading at a valuation discount vs. its peers. So, if not buybacks, is CIBC plotting an acquisition with their cash? He doesn't know. There are better opportunities elsewhere.

BCE vs. Telus vs. Verizon He owns all three plus AT&T. Verizon is still the #1 network in the U.S. and still pays a great dividend. All three will continue to do a good job. If you own them, hold them.
