Buy or Value Trap?He is going to have to go with a Value Trap. The stock just broke below its all-time low going back to January 2015. He would rather come back and buy it at $28 after it has moved up.

This was basically left for dead and everybody was very negative on it. It hit a low in late January 2016, and has rebounded nicely. It was a long, long decline for the better part of 2 years, and then finally started to turn around, and it is breaking out again. This is its first break-out in 6 years. This is probably a pretty positive thing for everybody in the world, because it means very, very hard-core resources and commodities are getting moved around.

Buy or Sell? The chart shows that it is a very frustrating stock to own, but a great company. He prefers owning the BMO S&P/TSX Oil & Gas ETF (ZEO-T). Or you could buy the iUnits S&P/TSX Capped Energy ETF (XEG-T), which is 26% Suncor. If you are interested in the energy space and want to make a lot of torque, look at the energy space in the small energy names.

This is more interesting than ever before. Toronto has got a little bit of its mojo back. September was a great month for the oil space in the TSX index. You might want to look at some smaller cap names to give you more torque.

A 2-5 year hold?A good ETF with about a 30-basis point MER. Keep in mind this really is a ranking on a three-year dividend growth. It re-constitutes its holding every 6 months. You are probably seeing pretty high valuations, which would be a little bit concerning. One of the simplest things you could own.

A Japanese conglomerate, well known multinational Telecommunications/Internet sitting in Japan. Trading at a huge discount to its underlying holdings. Trades at around $99-$100 billion market cap, and at a 40% discount to some of the names they own. They just bought an investment in Matchbox, which is an open-source mapping technology for every single device in the world. A good way to play some of the underlying names like Ali Baba (BABA-N) and Nvidia (NVDA-Q). Dividend yield of 0.7%. (Analysts’ price target is ¥11,750.00.)

The IMPINJ enables wireless connectivity across all kinds of devices. What they do that is a bit different from RFID (radio frequency identification) in that they are passive, meaning it is powerless, doesn’t need a battery. They have an alliance called RAIN, which is organized by Google, Intel and AIM. They have the ability to have little tags on clothing to tell prices, inventory, etc. Extremely volatile and not for the faint of heart. (Analysts’ price target is US$49.00.)
