Technically this looks very interesting. The trend is still on the upside, and it recently just broke above a trading range. It looks like the stock is outperforming the TSX composite which is positive. Looks like a good trade right through until spring.

A classic example of a gold stock. This has very strong seasonality during the early part of the 2 cycles for gold. Historically that is from the middle of December through until around the 3rd week in February. We are now outside of the period of seasonality until we get to the period of seasonal strength, around the 2nd week of July.

This has been interesting and a bit disappointing. Historically this has done well from January to approximately the middle of May of each year, but this year not so much. Seasonality works most of the time, but not all the time. What you need to do with a seasonal trade is to wait until technicals show that the stocks have shown signs of bottoming and are starting to show signs of outperformance relative to the market.

Historically this has been a summer stock. Normally it starts to do well at approximately the middle of June right through until the end of September. It’s in a trading range right now and not doing much of anything. If you see this moving above its trading range by the middle of June, that is going to be the set up for the next seasonal trade, which will take you into September. Dividend yield of 1.5%.

Historically this has very strong seasonality from around the end of January through to the beginning of May. This year it is not there. There is still time for this seasonal trade, so far there is no indication that the stock has even tried to bottom. It is still in a downward trend. Be patient. There still could be time to do a seasonal trade, but you are starting to run out of time.

A gassy stock and has very strong seasonality, historically from around the last week in January right through until approximately the middle of May. However, it is not happening this year, so wait until the technicals confirm that seasonal trends are actually occurring. This is still in a downward trend.

(This is in US$, but is also available in Cnd$ through ZEM-T, FDE-T and SHZ-T, which also offers a nice dividend yield.) Technically, the chart shows a nice upward trend, and today, after 2 PM we had a break out to a new high. The growth is coming from India, China, South Korea, Brazil, Taiwan. Seasonally, this runs from the middle of January right through to approximately the end of April.
