Classic defensive, great company, full valuation. If you don’t care that it goes down when people allocate capital out to get more offensive in their portfolio, that it is fine. He would expect to see that once the economy starts to grow and people start getting more and more focused on inflation, he would see this as a source of capital. Sold his holdings late last year. This is not that cheap. Dividend yield of 2.8%.

A wonderful great company and a great theme. Value stocks have underperformed growth stocks in the US for about 8 years. If interest rates do not go up, value names are going to outperform growth names. Stocks like this are growthier companies, and even though they are wonderful strong stocks, they will basically be a source of cash when the big pension funds and big banks start to allocate money away from growth names. As long as you are okay in hiding out in this, it is still a wonderful long term hold. Dividend yield of 2.1% is not enough for him.

A great company and a leading innovator. As a company, he really likes it, however it is just way too expensive. Trading at about 22X. 2.9% dividend yield. You aren’t going to get hurt holding this.

A lot of the stocks went down because of the view they were directly related to energy. This company owns a lot of oil storage tanks, and a Hawaiian utility, and yet it trades off as though it were an oil driller. He likes the company. Solid dividend and good growth prospects. Dividend yield of 6.8%.

If he owned a portfolio where he could go anywhere in the world, and he was bullish on oil, this one would be a holding. Dividend yield of about 7.5%.

Has been looking at things that are trading below their intrinsic value. Doesn’t own this, because it doesn’t have a dividend, but if he was thinking of opening up a new fund they gave him more degrees of freedom, he might think about looking at this. The company is going back to being a traditional biotech company and doing research and development. If they are successful in this 3-4 year journey and become a normal biotech company, there may be some value there. He doesn’t think it is going to zero.

This company buys the water pipes from US municipalities. It fixes the pipes and they get a fee for moving the water for the communities. A very, very stable business. The problem is, they have very little growth and they have no pricing power. PE is 30X and the yield is less than 2%, so he can’t get his head around the valuation.
