One of his largest holdings. If you own, don’t sell your core position until something structurally changes with the company from an earnings/production operational update issue. He has trimmed along the way just to keep his portfolio percentages intact, but is quite long on the stock and continues to like it. If you don’t own, he would recommend buying it as one of your key names in your basket of natural gas exposure in Canada. He could see 15%-20% upside this year. Tailwind on this story is not only their operational excellence, but also the natural gas price.

Had a bit of a stumble last year. COO left, which, in his opinion, was one of the core parts of management. Their operations and production updates have not been stellar. He needs to see 2 or 3 more quarters of this company to see if they can turn around operations and get back on the path they were a year ago. Currently trading at a very cheap multiple.

Likes the energy services sector, but he is buying higher market cap companies such as Calfrac (CFW-T), CanElson Drilling (CDI-T) and Canyon Services (FRC-T) which all 3 pay dividends. With the pullback of this company, it may be an opportune time to look at it again. All Canadian service companies should have a better 2nd half on volumes and margins. Dividend of 4.5%.

Has a lot of respect for the management team. A little bit higher risk given the plays that it has in north-eastern British Columbia and north-western Alberta. Holds this as more of an exploration play. If you are willing to take a bit higher risk, this is one that he could see a $7-$8 price target in 2 years. Not for a low risk investor.

Approval has just been given on order in Council. They just need the environmental approval which should be a “go” on the Dover project. This means they can now exercise their Put option and Petro China will have to pay them over $1 billion on their joint venture. That cash should be in their hands probably 90-120 days from now. The upside from here may be $10. Now that the company has the cash, a clean balance sheet, now needs to show operational excellence. He’ll have to see 3 or 4 quarters. They are also looking to joint venture there Duvernay as well.

(A Top Pick March 12/13. Up 36.88%.) Things are actually better operationally than they were a year ago. There has been an injection of cash from the Canadian Pension Plan from a debt issue. Gas prices are probably up 35%-50% from that time. Recently there have been some very encouraging well results. Thinks the stock continues to go higher.

(A Top Pick March 12/13. Up 23.82%.) This was definitely out of favour last year. Traded in a $5-$6.50 range and he bought a lot of stock in the $5.80-$6 range. It is finally getting the attention of some investors. Still trades at a cheaper multiple than the group. What has gotten investor interest recently is the focus on their Montne gas assets. Pretty good drill results and their land has expanded there. Thinks this will continue to move higher.
