The rising interest rates in the United States only suggests a growing economy with strong strength. If you are interested in to the stock market or want to expand your portfolio size, then it is right time to execute your plans. Though Geopolitical issues are a short distance away from becoming global trade war, the reasons to worry are minimal.
Global Trade War
Geopolitical issues raised by US President Donald Trump seems to be setting the stage for a global trade war, with both China and United States going ahead with the implementation of announced tariffs. It is not just that, Canada, European Union, Mexico and India have already proposed tariffs, which are going to take effect in this month and early July.
However, the countries involved wouldn’t instigate a trade war that will only hurt them, it is mostly likely that the initial instigator of the ongoing geopolitical issues US, reaching favorable terms with China and other countries on its own or with the help of suffering countries in July.
The hostile geopolitical environment can be used as an opportunity to enter into stocks at lowest prices possible. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.9%, while the S&P 500 was flat during the past week.
Federal reserve raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point from 1.75 percent to 2 percent. Further, two more short-term interest rate rises in the current year and three more in 2019 are expected. Rising interest rates and strong labor market is a highly favorable economic environment for banks. So, you can expect at least one bank from US and one from Canada region. Because both the country’s economic situation is identical to some extent.
