# Stockchase

> Stockchase publishes what financial experts say about specific stocks. Since 2000 it has archived and paraphrased opinions from Canadian and US market commentators, organized by company, by expert, and by date. Each opinion carries a signal (Buy, Sell, Hold, Top Pick) so investors can track expert sentiment on any ticker over time.

## Key concepts

- **Opinion** — one dated quote from one expert about one stock, classified as a signal (Buy, Top Pick, Hold, Sell, Past Top Pick, Don't Buy, Buy on Weakness, Sell on Strength, and others).
- **Company hub** (`/SYMBOL`) — all opinions and ratings for one ticker. The URL uses the Stockchase symbol (e.g. https://stockchase.com/AAPL-Q), while the displayed ticker is the Yahoo Finance form (AAPL).
- **Expert** — a market commentator whose opinions and track record are aggregated.
- **Daily opinions** — every opinion published on a given date.
- **Commentary** — broader market commentary not tied to a single stock.

## How expert opinions work

Every opinion carries one signal. The most common are Top Pick (the expert's highest-conviction idea that day), Buy / Buy on Weakness / Partial Buy, Hold, Sell / Sell on Strength / Partial Sell, Don't Buy, and Past Top Pick (a follow-up revisiting a previously named Top Pick). Signals are the expert's own words paraphrased at time of broadcast; they are point-in-time and not investment advice. A company hub aggregates every signal a stock has received over time, so you can see how expert sentiment on a ticker evolved.
