When you log into your trading dashboard and load the buy &amp; sell form for a specific stock, you will find a small arrow at the top right of the stock information.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"highlight\">By default it will show 15 minutes delayed price data but if you click on the small arrow you automatically get the real-time stock price.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"questrade-free-real-time-market-data.png\" src=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/questrade-free-real-time-market-data-1.png\" alt=\"Questrade free real time market data\" width=\"825\" height=\"158\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"They_are_not_the_cheapest\"><\/span>They are not the cheapest<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Look at the <a href=\"#16-questrade-low-fee-facts\">16 Questrade Low Fee Facts<\/a> table for all details on Questrade&#8217;s fees. Questrade might not be the cheapest in all use cases, but if you consider that it recently dropped any inactivity fee, if you use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finiki.org\/wiki\/Norbert%27s_gambit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nobert&#8217;s Gambit<\/a> for CAD to USD currency conversions, and if you also make sure to <a href=\"#avoid-ecn-fees\">avoid ECN fees<\/a>\u00a0, then Questrade should be, if not the cheapest, very close.<\/p>\n<p>You also need to consider that Questrade offers Live Chat support, have the <a title=\"Questrade Web Apps\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/questrade-web-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">best mobile and web apps<\/a> for trading and they offer <a title=\"Questrade Fees\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/questrade-fees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">unlimited free ETFs<\/a> purchases while other brokerages limit access to a limited set of ETFs.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Questrade ends up costing you a few pennies more, rest assured it&#8217;s well invested. Virtual Brokers was more expensive than Questrade but recently lowered its fees. Good luck using <a href=\"\/discover\/questrade-vs-competitors-review#virtual-brokers-vs-questrade\">Virtual Brokers<\/a>&#8216; apps. It&#8217;s awful and full of bugs. As for <a href=\"\/discover\/questrade-vs-competition-review#interactive-brokers-vs-questrade\">Interactive Brokers<\/a>, unless you have $100,000 invested there&#8217;s a monthly minimum fee you have to pay, so it makes it more expensive than <a title=\"Questrade\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/questrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Questrade<\/a> if you don&#8217;t trade that often.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"avoid-ecn-fees\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Questrade_will_charge_ECN_Fees\"><\/span>Questrade will charge ECN Fees<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s true Questrade will pass on ECN fees to you.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 30px 0px; background-color: #ffffff; border: 1px solid #99d6d9; border-radius: 5px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"questrade-reddit-avoid-ecn-fees.png\" src=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/questrade-reddit-avoid-ecn-fees-1.png\" alt=\"Questrade Reddit How to Avoid ECN Fees\" width=\"825\" height=\"117\" border=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<p>But, as angelus97 comments on Reddit, you can avoid ECN fees by making sure you do not remove liquidity from the market.<\/p>\n<p>Have a look at some of my trades. I had higher transaction fees ($16.95) for buying <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/5173\/XX-X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Avante Logixx<\/a>. This occurs when you remove liquidity from the market. They are called ECN fees. You can and should avoid them if you are careful.<\/p>\n<p>You can&#8217;t buy \/sell at market. You need to enter a limit price and wait for the market to come to you. This means your trade will not go through immediately but only when a seller changes his selling price to match your buy limit price.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"highlight\">Unless you are desperate for a small cap stock it shouldn&#8217;t be hard to configure your trades with a limited price and avoid ECN fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_I_heard_Questrade_has_bad_support\"><\/span>Myth: I heard Questrade has bad support<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Questrade is 20 years old. Support at Questrade might have had ups and downs. Also, problems can happen and when they happen, they might be amplified on social media. Maybe there was a time a few years ago when Questrade was not the greatest at support but recent reviews praise its support services.<\/p>\n<p>Look at <a href=\"#most-recommended-social-proof\">all the positive user feedback<\/a>. It would be impossible for a company that does not value customer support to get so much good feedback. You can find people from Questrade on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/questrade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>, on most Social Media and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Questrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reddit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I rarely have to <a title=\"Questrade Get In Touch\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/questrade-get-in-touch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">contact them<\/a>, but when I do, I use the live chat and have had quick, real-time answers to my questions.<\/p>\n<p>For a second time in a row, Questrade has won the 2019 DALBAR Canada <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2020\/02\/06\/1981128\/0\/en\/Questrade-Wins-2019-DALBAR-Seal-of-Service-Excellence-for-Second-Year.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seal for Service Excellence<\/a>. According to DALBAR, firms are evaluated on all critical service categories and recognizes those that provide exceptional service in all areas. The criteria include security handling, expertise, attitude and call flow. In order to qualify for the DALBAR Seal, companies must exceed stringent benchmarks in criteria covering all aspects of their interactions.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_I_read_they_have_bad_apps_Really\"><\/span>Myth: I read they have bad apps. Really?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>They have the <a title=\"Questrade Web Apps\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/questrade-web-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">best online trading apps<\/a> in term of usability.<\/p>\n<p>They do not have the most features, Interactive Brokers does, but it&#8217;s the best user experience. Sometimes I also use <a title=\"Tradingview\" href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/discover\/go\/tradingview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Tradingview<\/a>.
