Markets in New York and Toronto declined slightly on Wednesday as all eyes awaited Nvidia’s quarterly report after the closing bell. The S&P finished the day nearly flat at -0.02%, the Nasdaq -0.08%, the Dow -0.21% and the TSX -0.39% or down 143 points. Nvidia<\/a> ended the session down 1.59% and roughly that much after reporting top and bottom line beats, but issuing slightly disappointing Q3 guidance that fell short of high expectations. Other key names: Kraft Heinz<\/a> -2.09%, Moderna<\/a> -5.77%, Reddit<\/a> -4.36% and Arista<\/a> 5.92%. Meanwhile, the U.S. 10-year yield stayed put at 4.649% as did Bitcoin around US$78,260.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Bay Street, sectors were mixed, though a bounce in energy couldn’t offset weakness from materials and discretionary. TransAlta<\/a> rallied 3.66%, Cenovus<\/a>\u00a02.03%, Wheaton Precious Metals<\/a> -4.35%, Agnico Eagle<\/a> -4.25% and National Bank<\/a> tumbled 4.2% as bank\u00a0earnings continued to roll in. Gold slipped US$70 to US$4,586 and silver declined 0.9% to US$67.95. WTI shed 0.55% to US$81.90.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
