The TSX closed on another record high Tuesday after gaining 18 points to 36,476. Eight sectors lifted the Canadian market, led by dividend-paying utilities and telcos while tech lagged the most. Continuing uncertainty over the U.S.-Iran war and the closed Strait of Hormuz\u00a0pushed WTI 1.6% higher to US$83.45 and Whitecap Resources<\/a> by 1.31%. Meanwhile, Cargojet<\/a> soared 8.59% after reporting, Open Text<\/a> sank 3.25%, Kinaxis<\/a> slid 2.79% while Sprott<\/a> rallied 5.94%. Gold slipped US$22 to US$4,368 while silver gave back 1.65% to US$64.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tech also weighed on the American market which saw another negative day: the S&P -0.32%, the Nasdaq -0.64% and the Dow -0.34%. Major movers included AppLovin<\/a> -5.99%, Ventas<\/a> -5.43%, Alphabet<\/a> -3.84%, KKR<\/a> 6.85% and Apollo Asset Management<\/a> 6.26%. While the market awaits Wednesday’s CPI report, the U.S. 10-year yield edged below 4.7%. Meanwhile, Bitcoin declined US$530 to US$63,575.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
