By far,\u00a0tech was the strongest sector on the TSX, leading eight sectors higher while energy\u00a0lagged the most after the U.S. and Iran continued to pause their war.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tech&#8217;s performance lifted the TSX to a record close\u00a0of 35,588 after gaining about 200 points for the day. Also notable were <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/SHOP-T\">Shopify<\/a> up 11.64%, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/WSP-T\">WSP Global<\/a> 6.97%, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/T-T\">Telus<\/a> 2.01% and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/WCP-T\">Whitecap Resources<\/a> -3.77%. WTI sank 8.5% to US$81.75 while silver rose 0.58% to US$58.35 and gold added US$27 to US$4,080.
