April’s inflation number in the U.S. jumped from 3.3% in March to 3.8% in April, hotter than expected. The increase was driven by high oil prices, caused by the US-Iran war which sees little sign of resolution. The S&P retreated from record highs Tuesday and closed -0.16%, the Nasdaq -0.71% as the AI trade took a breather, and the Dow gained 0.11%. WTI returned to $100 after jumping 4.4% to US$102.40.
