Ongoing strong earnings and a slight easing of tensions in the Middle East boosted stocks on Tuesday. The S&P closed 0.81% higher, the Nasdaq 1.03%, the Dow 0.73% and the TSX -0.21%. The semis were big winners, with Intel<\/a> soaring 12.92% and Micron<\/a> jumping 11.06%. Waters Corp.<\/a> finished the day 13.54%, Fiserv<\/a> -8.8% and Palantir<\/a> -6.93%. Bitcoin<\/a>\u00a0rose another 2.1% to US$81,600 while the U.S. 10-year yield held at 4.42%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine sectors rallied on Bay Street, led by healthcare and discretionary, but tech suffered heavy losses. Major movers: ATS<\/a> 6.72%, Suncor<\/a> 1.88%, Keyera<\/a> -7.29%, Gibson Energy<\/a> -5.86% and Shopify<\/a> -15.65% after issuing a downbeat forecast. Gold declined\u00a0US$34 to US$4,555, silver inched by 0.33% to US$72.85 while WTI tumbled 3.55% to US$102.05 on some optimism in the Middle East war.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
