After yesterday’s highs, Thursday’s market was decidedly more volatile with the major indices swinging before settling in the red. The exception was the Dow, though it gained only 0.11%. The S&P closed -0.13%, the Nasdaq -0.72% and the TSX -0.54% to fall below 33,000. Even precious metals gave back their gains with silver and gold declining 0.6% to US$115.80 and US$5,385 respectively. A day after the U.S. Fed held interest rates flat, the U.S. 10-year yield remained around 4.231%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earnings from the day before influenced\u00a0the American market. Meta<\/a> soared 10.4%, but Microsoft<\/a> plunged 9.99%.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the travel stocks soared: Norwegian Cruise Line<\/a> by 10.25%, Royal Caribbean<\/a> 18.65% and Southwest Airlines<\/a> 18.7%. In Toronto, gold stocks suffered losses: B2Gold<\/a> -4.09% and Kinross<\/a> -4.34%. Meanwhile CP<\/a> rallied\u00a05.12% and Celestica<\/a> tumbled 13.54%.
