The Bank of Canada held its key lending rate at 2.25% on Wednesday, though didn’t forecast its next move either way. The TSX gained 0.22% or 72 points on the strength of materials and energy, while healthcare and discretionary\u00a0led eight sectors down. WTI added US$1.55 to US$63.35, but precious metals continued to reach new heights: silver jumped another 4% to US116.55 as gold rallied US$11 to US$5,391. Little\u00a0wonder that Denison Mines<\/a> was one of the best performers, up 8.97%, Capstone Copper<\/a> 3.3% and and B2Gold<\/a> 3.98%. Meanwhile, Energy Fuels<\/a> soared 14.45% and Aritzia<\/a> dove 6.21%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The major indices in New York saw modest gains with the Dow flat, the Nasdaq rising 0.25%,\u00a0 and the S&P adding 0.04% to make a closing\u00a0high. Memory chips continued to rally with Seagate<\/a> leaping 19.14%. Intel<\/a> rose 11.04% and Carvana<\/a> sank 14.17%. After hours, several megatech names reported and shares immediately moved: Microsoft<\/a>\u00a0 down 4%, and both Tesla<\/a> and Meta<\/a> up 3%. The U.S. 10-year yield edged up to 4.245% while Bitcoin slipped US$50 to US$88,905.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
