The mining sector soared on Wednesday, pulling the TSX to fresh highs. The Canadian index rose 0.9% or 279 points to 31,180, the first time above 31,000. Nearly all sectors rallied, as only discretionary dipped into the red. By far, minerals were the leader as Aya Gold & Silver<\/a> leapt 13.47%, Endeavour Silver<\/a> 9.79%, Discovery Silver<\/a> 8.72% and First Majestic Silver<\/a> 8.52%. In contrast, the most active name, Manulife<\/a>, slipped 1.99%. Gold itself climbed US$34 to US$4,164 while WTI added 1.1% to US$58.60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wall Street remained optimistic that the U.S. Fed will cut interest rates next month and extended its rally. The S&P climbed 0.69%, the Nasdaq 0.82% or nearly 200 points and the Dow 0.67% or more than 300 points. Major movers: Robinhood<\/a> soared 10.93%, Teradyne<\/a> 6.98%, Dell<\/a> 5.83% and AppLovin<\/a> 4.93% while the most-active name again, Nvidia<\/a> climbed 1.37%. Bitcoin continued to regain momentum by adding US$3,200 to US$90,201. In contrast, the U.S. 10-year yield fell below 4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
