Thanks to Trump’s tariffs, Canada’s GDP fell 1.6% annualized, worse than expected, while there was a drop in foreign investment, according to the latest data. Despite this news, the TSX rose 0.46% on Friday and 0.8% for the week. Though sectors were mixed, strong gains in materials and healthcare helped offset weakness in tech and other areas. Among the big movers on Bay Street were BRP<\/a> up 9.41%, Kinross Gold<\/a> 3.16%, Endeavour Silver<\/a> 6.19%, Celestica<\/a> -8.46% and Cenovus<\/a> -2.14%. In commodities, gold rose US$33 to US$3,450 while WTI sank 0.9% to US$64.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wall Street fared worse. The indices were down Friday and for the week. For the session, the S&P closed -0.64%, the Nasdaq -1.15% and the Dow -0.2%. Over the weekend, they fell roughly 0.2%. Major movers: Autodesk<\/a> 9.09%, Nvidia<\/a> -3.32% after their quarterly report late Wednesday, Tesla<\/a> -3.5%, Intel<\/a> -2.33% and Dell<\/a> -8.88%. The U.S. 10-year yield hovered around 4.23% while Bitcoin<\/a> dropped 3.6% to US$107,860. The markets will be closed Monday for Labour Day. Enjoy your weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
