After reporting on late Wednesday strong earnings and upbeat forecasts, Mag 7 stalwarts Meta<\/a> and Microsoft<\/a> soared Thursday by 11.25% and 3.95% respectively. However, the Nasdaq itself sank 0.05% as did the S&P by 0.41% and the Dow by 0.8%. Other key names were Xylem<\/a> which rallied 10.74%, eBay<\/a> by 18.3%, Tesla<\/a> -3.38% and Norwegian Cruise Line<\/a> 9.23%. Bitcoin slipped US$600 to US$116,500 while the U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.37%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the TSX declined 0.52% after all sectors but materials lost ground. Health care and energy suffered the worst losses. Major movers: Baytex<\/a> -2%, Tourmaline Oil<\/a> -6.29%, Bausch Health<\/a> -7.68%, Lightspeed<\/a> -5.11% and GFL Environmental<\/a> 5.94%. Gold climbed US$17 to US$3,292 while WTI slid 1% to US$69.30. Tech earnings continue Friday while many await news on a Canada-US trade deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
