Wednesday was a relatively quiet day on the market, but the S&P advanced 0.24% to reach a new high of 6,144. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq was relatively flat, up 15 points, while the Dow rose 0.16%. Despite fears of tariffs stoking inflation, the U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.53% while Bitcoin<\/a> increased 1.5% to US$96,400. Key movers included Super Micro Computer<\/a> up 7.97%, Intel<\/a> -6.17%, Palantir<\/a> -10.08% and Devon Energy<\/a> 7.71%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite slipping 22 points, nine of the TSX’s 11 sectors rallied, led by consumer discretionary and energy as tech lagged the most. Making news were Hudbay Minerals<\/a>, sliding 13.31% after cutting guidance, SSR Mining<\/a> jumping 12.74% on earnings, while Gildan<\/a> rallied 4.08% and Barrick Gold<\/a> rose 2.53%. Gold held around US$2,934 while WTI crude increased 45 cents to US$72.30 a barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
