As Americans voted for their next president, markets in New York as well as Toronto rallied. On Tuesday, the S&P rose 1.12%, the Nasdaq 1.32% and the Dow 0.89%. At the same time, earnings season continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Nvidia<\/a> jumped 2.59% to surpass Apple as the world’s most valuable company, Super Micro Computer<\/a> rallied 5.34% before reporting disappointing earnings after the close, Emerson Electric<\/a> popped 6.88% and Wynne Resorts<\/a> finished -9.56%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.289% while Bitcoin<\/a> rose 3.4% to US$69,360.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Toronto, the TSX climbed 0.43% as utilities, healthcare and staples led most sectors higher. Only three lagged, starting with consumer discretionary. Major movers: TransAlta<\/a> up 6.92%, Capital Power<\/a> 5.28%, Ivanhoe Mines<\/a> 5.16%, BCE<\/a> -1.36% and CargoJet<\/a> -6.53%.
