On Tuesday, gold made a new high after adding US$31 to US$2,773 while Bitcoin<\/a> popped 4% to US$72,370. Stocks, however, were mixed, with the TSX flat. Materials outperformed all other sectors on Bay Street, but most areas lagged, led by utilities and telcos. Big gainers: Eldorado Gold<\/a> up 5.42%, Lundin Mining<\/a> 4.23% and the Bank of Nova Scotia<\/a> 0.82%. Losing ground were Innergex Renewables<\/a> at -4.32% and Brookfield Renewable Partners<\/a> -4.1%. WTI held steady, up a modest 0.12% to US$67.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amid earnings season, Wall Street’s main indices were decidedly varied: the S&P up 0.16%, the Nasdaq 0.78% to a record high, but the Dow -0.36%. The U.S. 10-year yield barely moved around 4.256%. Major names: Ford<\/a> -8.44%, Keurig Dr. Pepper<\/a> -2.89%, Stanley Black & Decker<\/a> -8.77%, DR Horton<\/a> -7.24% and AMD<\/a> up 3.96%. Megatech earnings began with AMD reporting a beat after the bell with shares jumping 6% after hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
