Markets roared Thursday on both sides of the border. News of economic stimulus in China as well as the U.S.’s Q2 GDP beating expectations fueled optimism (or euphoria) on Bay and Wall streets. The TSX closed above 24,000 for the first time, at 24,038 after climbing 0.56%. Only energy and telcos showed weakness, while tech, discretionary, utilities and materials offered strength. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gold continued reach its own highs, adding US$14 to US$2,670, though WTI sank 3.25% to US$67.40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The S&P rallied 0.4% to a new high of 5,745. The Nasdaq jumped 0.63% and the Dow 0.62%.
