The TSX and Dow added a handful of points on Friday to technically reach new record highs. The Canadian index gained 1.25% over the week and the Dow added 1.6%, driven by the U.S. Fed’s 50-point rate cut. The S&P closed -0.2% on Friday and 1.35% for the week, and the Nasdaq performed -0.33% and 1.5% respectively. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 3.739% as Bitcoin<\/a> edged down 0.3% to US$62,740. Gold advanced US$33 to a new high of US$2,620 while WTI held at US$71.90.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sectors were mixed in Toronto with gains in telcos and materials balancing losses in energy and health care. Major movers: Cameco<\/a> 8.13%, TC Energy<\/a> 2.65%, CNQ<\/a> -1.2%, Algonquin Power<\/a> 1.75% and Ballard Power<\/a> 5%. In New York: Constellation Energy<\/a> 22.35% after striking a deal with Microsoft, Intel<\/a> 3.67%, Tesla<\/a> -2.29%, Lennar<\/a> -4.39%, and FedEx<\/a> -15.15% after badly missing its latest quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
