The Toronto and New York markets began the week inching higher, taking the S&P and Nasdaq to record closes. The S&P advanced 13 points, the Nasdaq 59 and the Dow 69 as markets were really in a holding pattern into the next U.S. Fed meeting on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major movers on Monday included AMD<\/a> at -4.66%, Constellation Energy<\/a> 8.38%, Ford<\/a> 1.89% and Southwest Airlines<\/a> climbing 7.06%. Apple<\/a> sank 2.07% after announcing its AI plans at its Worldwide Developers Conference that many felt were evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Meanwhile, the U.S. 10-year-yield edged up to 4.467% as Bitcoin<\/a> declined 0.4% to US$69,300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The TSX rose 0.25% as most sectors climbed. Materials and energy led while staples tanked. Manulife<\/a> rallied 1.46%, Cenovus<\/a> 2.57%, Ero Copper<\/a> 5.3% and Celestica<\/a> 4.4%, but Telus<\/a> slid 2.55%.
