The week ended on a modestly upbeat note on Bay Street after the TSX climbed 27 points on Friday and 0.5% for the week to remain within striking distance of all-time highs. On Friday, materials and utilities led most sectors higher as discretionary lagged the most. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major movers: Northwest Healthcare REIT<\/a> up 8.55%, CNQ<\/a> -1.34%, NexGen Energy<\/a> 3.48%, BlackBerry<\/a> -7.71% and Tilray<\/a> 7.8%. WTI held at $81 to cap a positive week as gold declined slightly to $2,160 an ounce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wall Street was hit by hot consumer and producer inflation data the past week and both the S&P and Nasdaq lost ground. The S&P closed Friday -0.68% and -0.13% for the week, and the Nasdaq -0.96% during the session to close below 16,000 and -0.7% for the week. The Dow finished the day -0.53% but was flat for the week. Major movers: Amazon<\/a> -2.21%, AMD<\/a> 2.16%, Nucor<\/a> 3.32% and Ulta Beauty<\/a> -5.39%. Adobe<\/a> reported a top and bottom line beat, but guidance came in a little light, which triggered a near-14% slide. Meanwhile, Bitcoin<\/a> sank 1.6% to trade below $68,000. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.3%.
