Canadian bank earnings season kicked off Tuesday with mixed results. Bank of Montreal<\/a> missed and shares slid 3.56% while Bank of Nova Scotia<\/a> beat and rallied 3.18% though rising loan delinquencies shadowed both. Financials were actually one of the few lagging sectors on Bay Street as staples and discretionary rallied. The TSX itself was flat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other notable names: Ballard Power<\/a> up 6.33%, and steelmakers Stelco<\/a> 6.19% and Algoma<\/a> 5.98%. WTI advanced 1.35% to $78.65 a barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stocks were also mixed on Wall Street where the S&P gained 0.17% and the Nasdaq rose 039% to return above 16,000, but the Dow slipped 0.25% to fall below 39,000. Cruise lines were the day’s big winners as Norwegian<\/a> soared 19.84% and Carnival<\/a> 7.65%. Constellation Energy<\/a> jumped 16.92%, but Hess<\/a> finished -3.09% and Amgen<\/a> -2.75%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.307%, while Bitcoin<\/a> continued its winning streak by surging 4.2% to $56,800.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
