On Monday, American markets scaled new highs on the eve of megatech names reporting. Meta<\/a> and Microsoft<\/a> notched record highs after rising 1.75% and 1.43% respectively a day before they report. Their performance helped lift the Nasdaq 1.04%. The S&P rose 0.66% to 4,923 and the Dow by 0.48% to 38,333, both fresh highs. Elsewhere, Carnival<\/a> climbed 4.07% and Illumina<\/a> 4.03%. The U.S. 10-year yield slipped to 4.082%. Bitcoin<\/a> advanced 2.65% to $43,100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TSX made another 52-week high by closing at 21,200 after adding 0.35%. Nearly all sectors were up, starting with staples, tech and real estate while energy lagged. Notable names: Baytex<\/a> -1.95%, Riocan REIT<\/a> 1.74%, Meg Energy<\/a> -3.5% and Ballard Power<\/a> 4.52%. WTI slipped 1.35% to $77.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
