Netflix<\/a> reported after the bell on Tuesday and shares soared Wednesday to close 10.47% higher. The optimism over the top streamer extended to other areas of tech as Microsoft touched US$3 trillion in market cap during the session and closed at a new high above $400 per share. Other AI names rallied, including AMD<\/a> by 5.69% and Applied Materials<\/a> at 4.33%. Meanwhile, Freeport-McMoRan<\/a> advanced 4.53%. The S&P rose 0.24% to close at a record high of 4,876, the Nasdaq added 0.54% to yet another 52-week high, at 15,508, though the Dow shed 0.1%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.182% while Bitcoin<\/a> slipped 0.6% to just below $40,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast, the TSX was flat, shedding five points though it remained above 21,000. Energy was the only real gainer on Tuesday while materials and real estate led most of the sectors down. Minerals rallied. Capstone Copper<\/a> popped 7.53% and Ero Copper<\/a> 5.44%, though B2Gold<\/a> sank 10.45%. BlackBerry<\/a> sank nearly 18% though Cenovus<\/a> rose 2.35%. WTI gained 1.3% to $75.35 a barrel. To no one’s surprise, the Bank of Canada held the key interest rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
