A choppy week that saw strong sell-offs ended with a convincing rally to push all the major averages in o the green for the week. The averages on Bay and Wall streets all gained around 1.5% for the week. Optimism in tech fueled the move as the TSX gained 1.23%. All sectors rose, led by staples, materials and energy.<\/p>\n
Major movers included Shopify<\/a> jumping 5.4%, Lundin Mining<\/a> by 3.79%, Capstone Copper<\/a> 4.51%, Baytex<\/a> at 3.3% though Hut 8 mining<\/a> fell 3.69%. WTI cruse advanced more than 2% to nearly $80 a barrel.<\/p>\n The Nasdaq surged 1.9% as the S&P added 1.61% and the Dow 1.17%. Notable names were Apple<\/a> up 3.51%, Ford<\/a> 4.22%, Meta<\/a> leaping 6.14% helped by the AI craze, Broadcom<\/a> rallying 5.7% and Costco<\/a> declining 2.15% after reporting.
