Stocks mildly rose on Wednesday to partially offset recent losses. A rise in commodity prices helped lift the TSX by 0.23% back into 20,000 territory. WTI rose 1.65% above $95 a barrel as energy as well as materials led Canadian stocks.<\/p>\n
Big gainers included Cameco<\/a> by 14.93%, Nexgen Energy<\/a> up 14.81%, and Denison Mines<\/a> at 17%. Rio Tinto sweetened its takeover off for Turquoise Mines<\/a> and the latter’s shares soared 24%. In contrast a disappointing quarter pressured Royal Bank<\/a> by 2.67% as WSP Global<\/a> finished -2.19% and Weston<\/a> -1.89%.<\/p>\n Wall Street continued to fret over Jay Powell’s comments that he will deliver on Friday, but the S&P added 0.16%, the Nasdaq 0.42%, and the Dow added 0.18%. All 11 S&P sectors were in the green led by energy and real estate. Gainers: Mosaic<\/a> 6%, cruise liners Royal Caribbean<\/a> by 7.47% and Norwegian<\/a> soaring nearly 14%, Intuit<\/a> 3.76% and Illumina<\/a> by 8.19%. However, Peloton<\/a> announced it would start selling through Amazon and stocks rocketed over 20%. Heading down were Newell Brands<\/a> at -3.51% and Dow<\/a> -2.5%.
