The Dow 0.39%, the S&P 0.37% and the Nasdaq 0.34%. Notable gainers included Pfizer<\/a> which jumped 4.15%, Cisco<\/a> up 2.71%, chipmakers like Nvidia<\/a> adding 1.92% and Under Armour<\/a> soaring 16.47%.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Tesla<\/a> slipped over 3%, Citigroup<\/a> slid 1.45%, Visa<\/a> lost 1.56% and Activision Blizzard<\/a> gave back 2.12%. Faring better were the cryptos as Bitcoin<\/a> jumped nearly 4% over $63,000. However, gold lost a little ground to stay below $1,800 an ounce. The U.S. 10-year yield hovered around 1.54%. All eyes are on the U.S. Fed’s Jerome Powell’s next announcement on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The TSX retreated 0.36%, dragged down by energy, materials, real estate and healthcare, though consumer staples roared and financials and industrials gained. Big movers included Air Canada<\/a> which soared 4.39%, Chorus Aviation<\/a> also climbing 3.75%, Birchcliffe Energy<\/a> at 3.28% and Canada Goose<\/a> up 2.39%. Lost in the background have been the banks which have been quietly gaining lately. Royal Bank<\/a> added over 1% today. Losing ground were Osisko Mining<\/a> at -4.73%, Nutrien<\/a> by -5% and Cargojet<\/a> at -3.71%. It was a rough day for crude oil in which WTI tumbled by 0.62% and WCS lost 3.2%<\/p>\n
