A day after the market sell-off, stocks stabilized to some degree and closed mixed on Wednesday. On Wall Street, trending up were the S&P by 0.16% and the Dow at 0.26% while tech continued to decline (albeit less dramatically) as the Nasdaq closed -0.24%. Healthcare and consumer names rallied, while financials, industrials and tech were mixed.<\/p>\n
Advancing were Boeing<\/a> by over 3%, Merck<\/a> by 2.55%, Dollar Tree<\/a> which soared 16.49% and Wells Fargo<\/a> by 2.44%. Slipping were Applied Materials<\/a> at -3.48%, Micron<\/a> at -2% and Etsy<\/a> at -3.32%. As noted, tech extended its declined but Apple<\/a> did recover 0.65%. Meanwhile, the U.S. 10-year yield continued to climb up to 1.53%.<\/p>\n The TSX closed down nearly 15 points or 0.07%. Energy and staples rallied while tech slid yet again. Notable winners included Cenovus<\/a> popping 2.31%, Vermilion Energy<\/a> jumping 9.56% and Weston<\/a> up 6.36%. In contrast, Lightspeed<\/a> tanked by 11.74% while Yamana Gold<\/a> fell 3.54%. Oil was also mixed with WTI retreating nearly 1% to fall below $75 per barrel, but WCS added nearly 1% to top $63.
