Sorry for this technical glitch&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday markets sold off some of its recent gains due to profit-taking as well as fresh concerns that the ongoing rise of COVID-19 cases in the American sunbelt will stall the U.S. recover. This includes remarks made from a high official at the Federal Reserve Bank of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/551628d9-0485-4867-81fa-540dd47628c4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta<\/a> in one of the hotspot states.<\/p>\n<p>On Wall Street, trading was negative for most of the day and particularly in the final hour. The S&amp;P closed -1.08%, the Dow -1.51% and the Nasdaq -0.86%. Among the session&#8217;s losers was <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/126\/BA-N\">Boeing<\/a>, plunging 4.81%, and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/1075\/RTX-N\">Raytheon<\/a> which shed 3.65%. Even though Microsoft made a new all-time high during Tuesday, it closed -1.16%. One of the few bright spots was <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/4017\/TSLA-Q\">Tesla<\/a>, which rose 1.33% after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/tesla-at-2000-is-new-bull-case-for-morgan-stanley-2020-07-07\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morgan Stanley<\/a> upgraded its price target, expecting &#8220;resilient&#8221; demand for Tesla&#8217;s e-cars.<\/p>\n<p>The TSX fared a little better, trading positive until the last leg of the session and closing -0.47%. Materials were the best-performing sector, rallying 2% with names like <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/707\/K-T\">Kinross<\/a> up 2.54% and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/3066\/FNV-T\">Franco Nevada<\/a> climing 2.36%. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/308\/CP-T\">CP Rail<\/a> continues to flirt with its 52-week high, inching up 0.78% while <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/5093\/SHOP-T\">Shopify<\/a> continued to rise 3.12%. Gold cracked $1,800\/ounce, returning to 2011 highs while oil lost around 0.7%. The most surprising news on this side of the border was that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/business\/2020\/07\/07\/toronto-real-estate-board-says-home-prices-could-still-meet-2020-forecast-of-10-gain.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toronto home prices<\/a> hit all-time highs, confounding the CMHC&#8217;s prediction of a decline.<\/p>\n<p>&#x1f6eb; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/126\/BA-N\">Boeing<\/a> -4.81%<br \/>\n&#x1f4bb; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/1075\/RTX-N\">Raytheon<\/a> -3.65%<br \/>\n&#x24c2; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/820\/MSFT-Q\">Microsoft<\/a> -1.16%<br \/>\n&#x1f697; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/4017\/TSLA-Q\">Tesla Motors Inc<\/a> +1.33%<br \/>\n&#x1f947; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/707\/K-T\">Kinross Gold<\/a> +2.54%<br \/>\n&#x1f947; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/3066\/FNV-T\">Franco-Nevada Corp.<\/a> +2.36%<br \/>\n&#x1f6cd; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/5093\/SHOP-T\">Shopify Inc.<\/a> +3.12%<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s newsletter was missing Monday&#8217;s after the close comment.
