The Nasdaq was fueled by a surprise Q3 profit <a href=\"https:\/\/business.financialpost.com\/investing\/tesla-shares-are-soaring-after-elon-musk-delivers-on-profit-promise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/TSLA-Q\">Tesla<\/a>, which soared 17.67% by day&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/META-Q\">Facebook<\/a> started the morning down, but finished even after Democrats grilled CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Capitol Hill Wednesday over cybersecurity and his plans to launch cryptocurrency, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/powerpost\/paloma\/the-technology-202\/2019\/10\/24\/the-technology-202-mark-zuckerberg-struggles-to-defend-facebook-s-civil-rights-record\/5db0811f602ff10cf14f9700\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Libra<\/a>. Compared to <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/TWTR-N\">Twitter<\/a>, Facebook was on a luxury cruise; Twitter&#8217;s earnings <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/video\/goldman-downgrades-twitter-slashes-price-184818200.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> missed both the top and bottom lines which prompted Goldman Sachs to slash its target from $52 to $34. The market hammered down Twitter by 20.86%.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday was just as busy after-hours. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/INTC-Q\">Intel<\/a> shot up after the closing bell after issuing top and bottom line beats in its Q3 earnings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/10\/24\/intel-intc-earnings-q3-2019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>. In complete contrast, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/AMZN-Q\">Amazon<\/a> plunged after reporting an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/10\/24\/amazon-earnings-q3-2019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earnings<\/a> miss. Amazon has been spending&#8211;perhaps over-spending&#8211;hundreds of millions on one-day shipping. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/V-N\">Visa<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2018\/10\/24\/visa-earnings-mostly-in-line-with-wall-streets-expectations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beat <\/a>EPS and revenues and rose after-hours. Another tech darling, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/MSFT-Q\">Microsoft<\/a>, rode its own positive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ed16d806-f5b4-11e9-a79c-bc9acae3b654\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>, released late-Wednesday, rising 1.97%.<\/p>\n<p>&#x1f697; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/TSLA-Q\">Tesla<\/a> +17.67%<br \/>\n&#x1f4ac; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/TWTR-N\">Twitter<\/a> -20.86%<br \/>\n&#x1f310; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/MSFT-Q\">Microsoft<\/a> +1.97%<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nasdaq popped 0.81% Thursday as the other New York indices struggled to go positive.
