Industry leader <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/4811\/WEED-T\">Canopy<\/a> spiked 5.23% on Thursday after making an acquisition in <a href=\"https:\/\/articles2.marketrealist.com\/2019\/10\/canopy-growth-acquires-beckley-canopy-therapeutics\/?utm_source=yahoo&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;yptr=yahoo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medical mairjuana<\/a>, but WEED-T is nowhere near its 52-week high of $70.98.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s indicative of the cannabis sector as a whole which has plunged over 50% in the past year. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/2191\/NFLX-Q\">Netflix<\/a> enjoyed better news, rising 2.47% after its latest earnings report showed growth in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-10-16\/netflix-gains-after-international-growth-eases-investor-worries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international<\/a> subscribers, though (perhaps tellingly) not American. All eyes are on the streaming space as <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/369\/DIS-N\">Disney<\/a> (up 1.15%) counts down to the launch of its streaming service on Nov. 12. In contrast, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/609\/IBM-N\">IBM<\/a>&#8216;s woes continue with its fifth weak <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/video\/ibm-stock-sinks-fifth-sequential-193735755.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earnings<\/a> report in a row. The stock fell 5.52%.<\/p>\n<p>The EU and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson struck a <a href=\"https:\/\/business.financialpost.com\/pmn\/business-pmn\/european-shares-hit-by-brexit-deal-doubts-ericsson-jumps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brexit<\/a> agreement, but already there are doubts that the House of Commons will pass it. If not, the UK may crash out of the EU on October 31 leading to who-knows-what in the European markets. On the continent, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockchase.com\/company\/view\/443\/ERIC-Q\">Ericsson<\/a> offered a glimmer of good news after reporting strong earnings.
