It had such a dramatic decline recently that he covered his short position. It is highly, highly speculative. He is not making the bet, however. There are about 40 LNG projects around the world that have better economics than this one. He is pretty neutral in this sector at this time. He would be selling long positions into rallies.

(A Top Pick Aug 27/14. Down 83.72%.) He still owns a little tiny piece. Their business has shrunk fairly significantly. There are probably still a few catalysts that could turn this company into a big player again, such as the LNG and the SiteC projects. Have already had some pre-work for SiteC and are part of one of the consortiums for the main work. If they were to get that, and at the same time the LNG project went through they would be so busy that the stock would be back to new highs in no time.

Energy seems to be trying to put in a bit of a base and could be a surprise to the upside in the fall. This stock seems to be finding support at the levels that it hit in 2012. It is in a downtrend which is not good. If it can find support somewhere around the current price in the next little while, you might be into a good stock. He wouldn’t Buy if you own it right now.

(A Top Pick July 16/14. Down 76.5%.) The LNG story was unfolding and the Site C dam, a big project in BC, was in the cards. He had really felt this company would be one of the benefactors of all that activity. Both of these things still apply.

Just had some news in the last few days of the breaching of some debt covenants, where the bank has given them some relief. This kind of indicates how bad the slowdown is, considering their work is not directly involved in oil/gas. Didn’t get awarded the initial earthmoving contract for the Site C project, but are in a consortium that is bidding in another part of the project. There is a good chance they are going to get some work there. Also, anything that happens with LNG will obviously be popular and help them as well.

This stock is acting a little bit different than others in this space. It has sort of flat lined at $0.34. To apply technical analysis to it meaningfully, you would need lots of volume. However, the $0.34 level, where it is now, is pretty meaningful.

Owns a small position and is quite excited about it. Obviously the oilfield slowdown has hurt their numbers in the short term. CEO thinks there is a lot of opportunity from both the LNG side and the Site C side. If they get a successful bid for Site C, that will create a lot of work. Even if they are unsuccessful there will still be some work for them. Trading below their equipment replacement costs. Be patient.

She tends to shy away from talking too much about small caps, especially in a cyclical cycle and particularly in energy. Likes management very much, but there is a slowdown going on in Western Canada. The big focus on this company was the LNG buildout, but LNG prices in Asia have come off quite a bit. Some of the big projects in Western Canada have been delayed in terms of final investment decisions. There was supposed to be a lot of activity related to Site C, the biggest infrastructure project in Canada to be approved in a really long time. There has been a slowdown in the oil sands and a lot of the companies there are looking for work, so they have come over to BC and are bidding the Site C project, so margins are probably not going to be as compelling as they would have been 6 months ago. This company is trading below cost of equipment, so it is a Value Buy down here.

A heavy equipment operator with 60% of business related to oil and gas. The company has a lot of debt. A BC hydro project and LNG projects were to be big for them but they are off the table now. He sold long ago. He is short others in the space, but this one does not have the liquidity.

This one has been left for dead, along with everything else LNG related. They are in a good financial position. A lot of their work is natural gas. Investors have lost interest in LNG projects, but he is still expecting an announcement from Petronas by June, which could be a big catalyst. Also, if they get some of the preliminary work on the Cite-C dam, it would be a game changer for them. From a valuation perspective, this is pretty cheap here.

Has sold off hard and he is underwater. With everything that has happened in the energy patch, the concern is that this company will not have as much work as they had in the past. He doesn’t think this is the case, and could actually see quite a lot of work in the next few years. This is one of the companies that is in the bid for the Site C Hydro electric dam project in BC. If they got that, it would be a significant amount of work for them. Even if they don’t get the contract, they will probably get work from whoever is awarded the contract. If any type of LNG projects get into place, these guys have the largest fleet of big caterpillars and bulldozers in Western Canada.

Has pulled back an awful lot. Was quite surprised at how much it had pulled back. Has a large exposure to energy, but the majority of their exposure is actually on natural gas, not oil. There are a lot of catalysts coming. Putting together another great quarter and are still super busy. Still seeing lots of gravel crushing, road construction and well sites preps being done. The catalyst for them is the Site C Hydro dam where preliminary work is expected to be announced very soon. They are also part of the bidding group for the main project. Stock sold off quite a bit when Petronos announced they were delaying their decision on the LNG project into 2015. He was a little surprised with this since they had leased 10 floors of office space in Calgary, close to 400,000 ft.². He wonders if they are just playing a little bit of hardball with the BC and federal governments. Really likes this one here.

If LNG does go through, they are going to be very active. There are some big contracts coming up in BC that they may be awarded in the next 3-6 months. He is comfortable with the story.

Not a lot has changed except for the share price. They are mostly focused in construction, and if anything, skewed towards the natural gas side of things rather than oil. Have been dragged down with the price of oil, and probably unfairly. Recently had good revenue numbers. A few days of slowdown because of weather. From what he can gather, they are still firing on all cylinders as far as revenues go. That will really drive the earnings numbers. The big wild card is the Site C dam. If it is a positive, this company could get a little or a lot of work depending on if the bid is accepted. Also, there are a lot of LNG projects.

This can be a very volatile stock, but he really likes the underlying business. The acquisitions they have done are good, solid acquisitions. It tends to trade a lot on the market sentiment about whether LNG will go forward and whether the Site C hydroelectric dam will go forward. If this happens, this company will do extremely well. They own a lot of heavy equipment that will be in demand. Partnered with a big Spanish company on the Site C clearing work.
