Market.  We are into 10 dangerous days.  This is a time when companies give negative guidance and analysts reduce earnings estimates.  We had hurricanes and earthquakes this year.  After that things look better.  We are about to enter the period of seasonal strength for US and Canadian markets.  It takes until the middle of October for the strength to start.  It should happen again this year.  The first quarter of next year should be even better.

Oil.  We are starting to move into the trend already, over the last couple of days.  The period of seasonal weakness is coming into oil.  Stay away from it for now as well as energy stocks.  Late January we should go into another period of seasonal strength until May.

What is the most seasonally predictable?  The base metals sector is quite reliable.  Stocks are more predictable than ETFs.  Commodity prices are more reliably seasonal than stocks.

He does not know the seasonality.  Utility stocks do well in the summer.  We are in a trading range.  We are testing close to the bottom.  He would be a bit careful here.  Utilities typically underperform the market about now.  He is neutral.

It has not been around long enough to allow a seasonality study.  It is in a long term upward trend, momentum is positive and it is outperforming the market.  Retailing does well from the middle of September until the end of December.

It had a huge run over the last 4 or 5 weeks and now the period of seasonal strength comes to an end.  Nat. gas prices have broken key support levels so it does not look good for this one.  This year we are in a downward trending.  Take some money off the table and look for better opportunities.

It has not been around in its current form for long enough for seasonal analysis.  Technically it has been one of the strongest gold stocks in Canada.  Historically it reaches a peak around now and goes into a period of weakness until the end of the year and then into another period of strength.  You might want to take some money off the table.

Love Don Vialoux's analysis of seasonal strength or weakness in regards to stock sectors. The patterns of seasonality that he points out are so interesting.

If you like palm reading you'll like Don. I think most of the seasonality stuff he makes up as he goes along. His analysis is on seasonality, even he admits has lots of exceptions. Can't figure how he lasted in the industry so long.
